Welcome to RUBY.

Here you will find information and resources for young women with breast cancer, their family and their friends. It's designed to guide you through your cancer journey, complement information given to you by your care team and empower you to make decisions about your health.

The site has been divided into five paths: early stage breast cancer, neoadjuvant (pre-surgery) therapy, pregancy during breast cancer, ductal carcinoma in situ and metastatic (stage IV) breast cancer. Each one has important information that will help you know what to expect as you travel along your own journey.

About Us

RUBY, or Reducing the bUrden of Breast cancer in Young women, is a pan-Canadian research study based at the University of Calgary (Calgary, AB) and Women’s College Hospital (Toronto, ON) that examines breast cancer in young women (40 years and under) in Canada. In doing so, we can identify the unique challenges that women in this age group face and find best practices for their medical care.
